The Falcons season ends in the 2nd round of the MHSAA playoffs. The Yellowjackets of Detroit Country Day defeat the Falcons 4-0 at the FHIA on Thursday night.

The first period was controlled by the Yellowjackets with many scoring chances. Falcons senior goaltender Max Watson turned away all 18 shots on net in the opening period to keep the score at 0-0.

In the 2nd period the Yellowjackets picked up all of their goals to secure the victory. Jackson Berger scored on a rebound in front of the net at the :59 mark to take the 1-0 lead. Patrick Cunnington scored at 5:29 to make it 2-0. The Yellowjackets picked up power play goal by Joshua Rice at 3:45. And Michael Stebbins scored at 15:21 to cap off the scoring for Country Day.

The Falcons had some scoring chances in the 3rd, but couldn’t capitalize on their power play opportunities. The Yellowjackets were 2 men short for approximately 1 minute early in the period. They killed off the Falcons’ power play to keep them off the scoreboard.

The Yellowjackets out-shot the Falcons 43-18.

Falcons’ goalie Max Watson faced 43 shots, making 39 saves.

This concludes the 2016-17 Hockey season for the Farmington Falcons.

Thanks to coaches, Brad Levick, Topher Gendron and Kyle Chambers for working with the young men of Farmington High School. Thank you also goes to Zvi “Doc” Levran for traveling back to Michigan to help the team throughout the season.

To wrap up the season for the players, family and friends will honor them in their annual Falcon Hockey Banquet later this month.
