Game Recap

The Farmington Falcons lost to the Farmington Hills United Flyers 4-2 in the second meeting of the season.

The Flyers took the lead at the 7:00 mark of the 1st period on a goal by Ben McColl.

The Falcons would tie up late in the period. Joe Carbone scored from between the circles on a nice pass from Tanner Neill coming out from behind the Flyers’ net. Nate Arnold picked up the other assist.

Tied 1-1 going into the 1st intermission.

The Flyers would grab the 2-1 lead at the 10:14 mark of the 2nd period. Blake Maddalena picking up the goal.

FH United would increase their lead to 3-1 at the 11:32 mark with a goal by Thomas Zak.

In the 3rd period, the Falcons would cut the lead down to one. With good pressure in the Flyers zone, the Falcons scored at the 11:51 mark. Collin Rea netting the goal, assists to Collin Finn and Kyle Lawson.

The Falcons would come close to tying the game up late. With their goalie on the bench for an extra attacker, they couldn’t get the equalizer. The Flyers would eventually clear the puck out of their zone and put in an empty net goal to secure the 4-2 victory.

Hunter Firestone was in net for the Falcons. Firestone faced 34 shots (3 GAA).

Next up for the Falcons are TWO games next week at the FHIA:

Wednesday (2/22) vs Howell at 7:00pm – Senior Night
Thursday (2/23) vs Rochester at 7:00pm – Last regular season game.

Game Recap

The Falcons battled their neighbors to the west and came up short in a 4-3 OT loss to the Novi Wildcats.

The 1st period was filled with great scoring opportunities, but both teams went into intermission deadlocked at 0-0.

The Falcons struck first in the 2nd period to take the lead. Nate Arnold put home the rebound from Tanner Neill’s shot off the goalie’s pads at the 1:57 mark. Neill and Joe Carbone picking up the assists.

Novi tied it up at 1-1 at the 5:33 mark of the 2nd. Brandon Kour netting the goal.

In the 3rd period, the Falcons grabbed the 2-1 lead. Joe Carbone put in the power play goal at 8:27. Assists to Neill and Nick Pearen.

The Wildcats would come back to tie it up again at 12:39. Evan Budd getting the goal. Novi would grab the 3-2 lead a minute later. David Denova scoring the goal.

The Falcons would not give up. They pulled their goalie for an extra man with just over 1 minute in the game.  Tanner Neill scored the tying goal with just :05 on the clock. Joe Carbone picking up the assist.

In OverTime, the Wildcats would grab the victory on a wrap-around goal by Zach Perpich :43 seconds into the extra time.

Max Watson was in net for the Falcons. Watson faced 47 shots on goal, turning away 43.

Next up for FHS is their rematch with Farmington Hills United on Saturday. The Flyers will host the game at FHIA. Puck drop is at 7:00pm.

Game Recap

The Farmington Falcons were defeated by the Powers Catholic Chargers, 8-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Falcons kept the Powers Chargers in check for the 1st period with good defense and timely saves by goalie Hunter Firestone.

In the 2nd period, the Chargers picked up an early goal to take the lead at the 2:17 mark. The Chargers added another at 6:56 to make it 2-0. Again, Firestone keeping the Falcons in the game with 22 saves in the 2nd period. After two periods, Chargers up 2-0.

The Falcons would go down 2 men to penalties early in the 3rd period and the Chargers took advantage. They picked up 2 power play goals to increase the lead to 4-0.

The Chargers kept up the pressure and added 4 more goals to complete the 8-0 shutout of the Falcons.

The Falcons’ Hunter Firestone faced 52 shots on net.

Next up for the Falcons is the Novi Wildcats on Wednesday. Game time is 7:15pm at the Novi Ice Arena.

Game Recap

The Falcons late comeback bid falls short in the 6-3 loss to the Canton Chiefs on Wednesday night at the FHIA.

Farmington scored near the mid way point of the 1st period to take the lead. Ben Jugan scored an un-assisted goal at the 8:43 mark.

Canton scored 2 goals late in the period to take the 2-1 lead into the 1st intermission. Emerson Taylor at 15:01 and Daniel Bourgeois at 16:51.

In the 2nd period, the Falcons would tie it up at 2-2. Zach Kniffin scored at 12:17, assists to Collin Finn and Carter Wells.

In the 3rd period, the Chiefs would regain the lead at 3-2 with a goal from Emerson Taylor at 4:30. Canton extended their lead to 4-2 with a goal from Michael Gaffka at 5:36.

The Falcons would mount a comeback late in the 3rd. With the goalie pulled for the extra man, Joe Carbone scored with 1:12 remaining to make it 4-3. Collin Rea and Tanner Neil assisting.

The Falcons sustained pressure for the next couple of shifts, but could not put in the tying goal. Canton would score 2 empty-net goals to seal the victory.

Max Watson was in net for the Falcons, facing 49 shots (4 GAA).

Next up for FHS is Powers Catholic (Flint) on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons travel to the Crystal Fieldhouse Ice Arena for a 3:00pm puck drop.
