The Farmington Falcons played the Farmington Hills Flyers in the second annual Bill Newton memorial cup hockey game and the Falcons dominated play right from drop of the puck. The Falcons peppered shot after shot at Flyers goaltender Colin Woods but could not get through until at 4:31 of the first when Danny Heffron scored from a pass from Kris Kozoro for the first goal of the game. The 2nd assist came from Carter Wells. The second period featured the same play but Colin Woods kept all the shots away and the scored stayed at 1-0 after 2. The Falcons finally broke it open at 14:50 of the third when Carter Wells scored with assists to Kozoro and Heffron. Two defensemen worked together for the 3rd goal with Ben Jugan taking a pass from Tyler Baird and Jugan shot the puck from the top of the circle for his goal. The Falcons scored again when defenseman Matt Nieman scored from the point with a top shelf shot with the assist going to Nate Arnold. The final goal scored by the Falcons was Danny Heffron getting his second goal of the night at 1:03 of the 3rd. The assist going to Zach Kniffen. Falcon Goalie Drew Eaton got the shutout making 15 saves for the night. The Falcons will be traveling to Traverse City this weekend playing Traverse City west and Traverse City Central.
